Bruins Announce their New Coach for the 2016/17 Season!

Bruins-Logo pointstreakUxbridge Bruins General Manager Ron Archibald announced Friday Apr.29th that local resident Tim Evans has been hired as the teams new coach. Tim is a former Bruins player and also was an assistant coach to Trevor Clark back in the mid 90’s. He played for Kent State University and has a degree in Marketing and Management. He has been involved coaching in Uxbridge Minor Hockey where he holds 3 All-Ontario Championships, as well as 1 OHF title.
Tim has added Cliff Freckleton as an assistant coach with another to be named later. Cliff also a resident of Uxbridge, has coached with Tim in the UMHA and he also played for the Bruins in the mid 80’s. They look forward to the challenge and are excited for the opportunity to be part of the Bruins family.
They will be busy with the Prospects Camp starting on Sunday May1st at the arena.

Congratulations to the Ayr Centennials!

The 2015/16 Junior C season is officially over as the Ayr Centennials before 1475 fans defeated the Port Hope Panthers 5-2 to sweep the Schmalz Cup finals 4-0. Congrats to Ayr and their Fans!

Hardware handed out at Bruins Banquet!

The Bruins held their awards banquet Fri. Apr.22nd as 6 awards were handed out by G.M. Ron Archibald, his assistant Glen Waters and the Coaching staff, including MVP to outgoing captain Marco Mastrangelo. Also picking up the hardware was Jordan Nesbitt / Defenceman of the Year, Liam Timewell / Most Gentlemanly Player, Aiden Reilly / Co Winner of Most Improved and Coaches Award and Thomas Swift Co Winner of Most Improved and the Rookie of the Year honors.
We also say goodbye to three outstanding young men in goaltender Branden Francey who has backstopped the Bruins in 3 out of the last 4 years, Daryl Thomson with that sniper shot we saw over and over again and to Captain Marco Mastrangelo who was not only our team MVP but the MVP of the Central Ontario league. We wish you guys well in your future life careers.

Schmalz Cup Update!

The Port Hope Panthers are making their second consecutive finals appearance after a 3-0 win over the Alliston Hornets tonight and a 4-2 series win.

The Panthers will play the Ayr Centennials which will see one of these teams win their first ever All Ontario Championship and have their name engraved on the Schmalz Cup.

Ayr is one hour and 40 mins from Uxbridge and Port hope is a 65 minute drive if you are looking to see the top two teams battle for the cup! Good luck to both teams!

Road to the Schmalz Cup!

The Ayr Centennials are the first team to advance to this years Ontario finals with a 3-2 OT win and 4 game sweep of the Essex 73’s. The other series has the Alliston Hornets leading the Port Hope Panthers 2 games to 1 with their 6-4 win today in Alliston despite being out shot 46-17. Good luck to the remaining teams in the hunt for the Championship Schmalz Cup.

Uxbridge Stars are Champions!

Congratulations Uxbridge Minor Peewee A Stars in becoming the Lakeshore York Simcoe Champions. The team was coached by Former Bruins player and Coach Jason Underwood.

Uxbridge Native Selected in OHL Draft!

The Uxbridge Bruins congratulate Quinn Yule on being selected in the 5th round of the OHL Priority Selections by the Ottawa 67’s. A native of Uxbridge, he played for the Central Ontario Wolves Minor Midgets. Yule had 20 goals and 18 assists for a 38 point total in 30 games this season.

Four strong teams that could go the distance in each series making for some great playoff hockey! Good luck to all teams in their quest to become the 2016 Champions!

Geoff Hodgkinson Announces His Resignation!

After taking time to reflect on his future, Bruins Head Coach Geoff Hodgkinson announced he was stepping down after three seasons with the Bruins. Hodgie has decided to spend more time with his family after taking the role of coach with his son’s team in Whitby next season. On behalf of the Uxbridge Bruins I thank him and his assistants Andrew Langlands and Warren Cooper for their time and dedication with the Junior C Bruins. Also the Bruins thank Alison Hodgkinson for her work on the Bruins Facebook page this past season, her pictures and updates will be missed.
