Bruins Fly Past the Eagles!

francey saveCarter Vahey’s shot from the point hits a Clarington defender’s stick to deflect past the Eagles netminder for a 1-0 lead at 2:04 of the first period during a Bruins power play. Marco Mastrangelo and Korey Brand assisted. Then it was Shane Smith who cleaned up after a Korey Brand’s shot for a 2-0 lead. Dylan Lock got his first of 3 points on the night. Clarington would beat Bruins goalie Brandon Francey only once on the night to cut the lead in half, but it was Locke with his soft hands deking the Eagles goalie for a 3-1 margin and he followed that up with a tip on Vahey’s point shot for his second goal. Smith and Brand got helpers as well on his goals. Brand added a third period marker for a 5-1 final. Uxbridge hosts the Lakefield Chiefs next Fri. Oct. 3rd at 7:45pm.

Bruins Fall to Mojacks in OT!

Conner Evans 2-1 goalAfter a scoreless 1st period the Bruins got on board first on Alex Williamson’s goal, only to have Port Perry tie it up at one apiece. Conner Evans made it 2-1 on a blast from the point at 19:30 but again Port Perry tied it up with 2 secs left in the second. A third period goal by Daryl Thomson gave Uxbridge their third lead of the night but the Mojacks tied it up sending it to overtime where they won it on a breakaway of their own. The Bruins are in Clarington on Sat  Sept27 at 7:20pm

The Uxbridge Bruins Alumni Golf Tournament was a huge success this past weekend…

The Uxbridge Bruins Alumni Golf Tournament was a huge success this past weekend raising funds for the Bruins Hockey Club. There were 130 golfers and approximately 40 Alumni in attendance for this year’s event. The intention is to grow this tournament to bring the alumni back together year after year to help support the current Bruins in the quest for a title.

 This year’s event was held at the prestigious Wooden sticks Golf Course and we would like to thank Steve Wilson and his crew on a memorable day. Through great avenues including the Bruins Alumni and all the families on the current roster we were able to raise funds to put back to the current season in regards to equipment and the added travel to places like Lakefield and Apsley, Ontario and more.

 We would like to thank the organizers of this year’s event Geoff Hodgkinson and Andrew Langlands for all your hard work at this year’s tournament and they will be back on a yearly basis.

Bruins Spoil the Ice Home Opener!

Francey SaveThe Bruins scored the only goal in the first period on a heads up play by Conner Evans who fed Marco Mastrangelo racing down the left side and he found Daryl Thomson in front of the Ice net for the goal.

Then they exploded for 5 in the second as they started off their 2014/15 season on a winning note against the Georgina Ice by a score of 6-2. The other Bruins goals were scored by Mastrangelo who played give and go with Jarett Smith on a pretty play for a 2-0 lead. That was followed by Tyson Eastgate pouncing on Alex Williamson’s rebound for a commanding 3-0 score. But the Ice would bounce back for two quick goals, so when Korey Brand got a huge 4-2 goal on the ensuing play picking up his own rebound, it shifted the momentum back to Uxbridge.

Jarett Smith batted in a loose puck off of a Mastrangelo shot for the 5th goal and closing out the scoring was Shane Smiths Breakaway goal when Brand chipped the puck up the boards to Smith who went high stick side on the Ice tender.

Branden Francey made some big saves early picking up the win in goal.

The Bruins home opener is next Fri. Sept.26th against the Port Perry Mojacks, come on out and fill the stands and cheer the Bruins onto victory.

Port Hope Tame the Bruins!

logo100The Port Hope Panthers scored 6 goals in the second period enroute to a 7-1 mauling of the Bruins tonight in the second game of a weekend set. The Bruins open the season next Fri Sept. 19th in Keswick. Thier first home game is Fri. Sept. 26th when they host the Port Perry Mojacks.

Port Hope skates away with Win over Bruins!

Bruins LogoPort Hope scored a goal a period tonight  defeating the Bruins 3- 1 in the first of a home and home series. Shane Smith had the lone Uxbridge goal. Brandon Francey took the loss in goal. Uxbridge plays at Port Hope in their final pre season game Sat Sept.13th at 7:00pm. The Bruins open the season on Fri. Sept.19th in Keswick against the Georgina Ice!

Alliston Tournament Champions!

CelebrationAllistonTourneyThe Bruins defeated the Port Perry Mojacks 6-2 in the finals to win the tournament in Alliston Sept.7th. Jarrett Smith, Korey Brand, Dylan Lock, Daryle Thomson and Marco Mastrangelo scored for the Bruins. Brandon Francey played 55 mins between the pipes and Jake Jooston came in for the final 5 mins combining for the win. Congratulations to the players and staff on a very successful tournament. Bruins advance to Finals at Alliston Tourney!

4-0 Bruins win over the Midland Flyers will send them into the finals at 3pm against the Port Perry Mojacks. Daryl Thomson with two and one each by Alex Siblock and Jordon Nesbitt were the Bruins Goal scorers. Brandon Francey stood tall in net especially with the score 1-0 and stopped a shot mid air with his stick as in was heading into the open net.

Game 3 win over Caledon

imagejpeg_2Action from game 3 of the Alliston tournament where the Bruins win by a score of 2-1 with two third period goals by Jordon Nesbitt. Jake Joosten picked up the win in goal. The Bruins finished 1st overall at this years tournament in Alliston and they play Midland in one semifinal at 11:30 am Sunday Sept.7th and Port Perry plays Alliston at 11:00 am in the other semi-final. The finals between the two winners of the semi’s will be at 3:00pm.  Go Bruins Go!

Bruins Pick Up Second Win!

game2FranceySaveIn game two the Bruins played the Penetang Kings winning by a score of 4-0. Alex Williamson and Jarret Smith gave the Bruins a 2-0 first period lead and in the second Marco Mastrangelo and Aiden Rielly increased the lead to 4-0. there was no scoring in the third. Branden Francey picked up the shutout and win in goal.
