Matt Allen handshakesThe Bruins scored first on Matt Pollards point shot but Lakefield fired back with 6 of their own to capture the Cougar Cup tonight in Lakefield. Max Tjin made many excellent saves to give his teammates a chance but it was not meant to be. Thanks to the players for a valiant effort against a very strong Lakefield team. Good luck representing the Central at the Provincial level.  A special thank you to Captain Matt Allen in his final game of Jr. C. Bruins Defeat Lakefield to Send the Series to Game 5!

Tjin saveThe Bruins will be on the bus back to Lakefield Wed night as they played with heart and defeated the Chiefs 3-2 tonight at the Bear Den. Conner Miller on a power play got things started with an assist to Conner Beck but Lakefield came back and tied it up before the first period ended. In the second period, Matt Allen on a nice setup from Marco Mastrangelo who found Allen in the slot, ripped a shot that was too hard for the Lakefield goalie to handle. Miller picked up his second assist as well. Later that same period Tim Bierema then gained the zone and Liam Blais picked up a loose puck stick handling around 2 Chief defenders before passing tape to tape to Korey Brand and he gives the Bruins a 3-1 lead. Lakefield got one back in the third but Max Tjin turned away the rest of the Chiefs shots and Uxbridge sent their faithful fans home with a 3-2 win and a Game 5 Wed night in Lakefield.

Lakefield too Strong Tonight! 13-3

logo100Sometimes during a season there are highs and lows and tonight was definitely one of the lows. Despite scoring first for a 1-0 lead on a goal by Conner Miller, the Lakefield Chiefs scored at will defeating the Bruins 13-3 to take a commanding 3-games-to-none lead in the series. Cody Northover started in goal and was replaced after the sixth goal by Max Tjin. Jeremy Toupin scored twice in the third in what was one of the most lopsided scores the Bruins have been in for a number of years.  Game 4 is Mon, Mar. 10th at 7:45 in Uxbridge.

Lakefield opens up a 2-0 Series Lead!

Max save1The Lakefield Chiefs took a 3-1 lead into the third tonight and then added 2 more before Marco Mastrangelo scored his second of the game (unassisted) with just under 7 minutes left. Both of his goals were scored on the breakaway with assists on the first goal by Matt Trudel and Tim Bierema. Lakefield would get one more into an empty net late in the game, just after a Bruins powerplay to win 6-2 and take a 2-0 series lead in the Central Finals. Game 4 is in Uxbridge Mon. Mar.10 at 7:45 pm.

Lakefield takes game 1 in Central Finals!

POGM1BrandCrossbarThe Lakefield Chiefs scored 2 in the first and then added 1 in the second before Tyson Eastgate got the Bruins on the board. Liam Blais from his blueline fed a pass to Conner Beck who in turn fed Tyson Eastgate as he fired a shot low glove side for the goal. However the Chiefs added 2 more in the third for a 5-1 win and 1-0 series lead. Max Tjin took the loss in goal and could not be faulted on any of the goals. Game two is at the Bear Den on Fri. Mar.7th at 7:45pm. Let’s pack the arena and make lots of noise to cheer them on.

Bruins win Game 7 to Advance to the Central Finals!

POGM7HandshakeIt must’ve been a full moon somewhere, how else do you explain the wild finish to this series in Clarington as the Bruins opened up a 5-1 lead and then held on for 6-5 victory in eliminating the Clarington Eagles in game 7 tonight. Marco Mastrangelo got the Bruins on board in the first as he pounced on a goal mouth scramble picking up a rebound from a Tim Bierima shot for the lead. The Eagles tied it at 1-1 after one. The Bruins exploded for 4 goals in a 2:18 span in the second, chasing starter CJ Sharp from the Eagles net. Three of them were on the power play by Matt Allen(2), Conner Beck and Conner Miller and that takes us to the wild finish in the third. Clarington scored 3 goals and trailed 5-4 with 4 mins and 55 seconds left. Captain Matt Allen worked the puck up the boards and as he was tied up by an Eagles player was able to get the puck to team-mate Jarett Smith and his wrist shot eluded Conner Visca high on the glove side. Clarington on a power play with a sixth attacker score to make it 6-5 and despite a wild finish around the Bruins goal, Max Tjin held them off from that tying goal and his jubilant teammates celebrated along with the Uxbridge Fans! This completes the comeback from trailing 3-1 in games to Clarington in this series.  Game one of the Finals is in Lakefield Tues. Mar.4th at 7:30pm and then Game 2 is in Uxbridge Fri. Mar.7th at 7:45pm. Below Bruins Alumni came out to support the team!
