Bruins lock up first place with record setting 32nd win!

It was a scoreless first period at the Bear Den tonight despite the Bruins out shooting the Knights 12-5, a pace the Bruins kept up in the second but came out of the 2nd tied at 1-1.  Simon Feig sent Michael Rennie in on a breakaway and he fired a shot over the glove hand of NK’s goalie for the lead. Just under 3 mins later the Knights would tie it up to set up the third period dramatics.

Captain Aiden Reilly got his teams game winning goal that clinched first place, kept the unbeaten streak alive at 15 and set a franchise record 32nd win of the year. Jackson Savery got a big insurance goal from a difficult angle with Justin Bennett and Stefan Palatsidis assisting. Final shots were 38-15 Uxbridge as they wrap up the season on Sunday in Sutton at 3:30 pm against the Ice, hoping to add to their record setting season.

Congrats to the Players, Coaches Drew, Coxy, Spats, Assistant GM Kevin Vandergeest and General Manager Mark Savery on bringing Uxbridge its first division title in 10 years.

Bruins sweep weekend against Mojacks

Two Vets lead the way for the Bruins this afternoon in Port Perry as Captain Aiden Reilly scored two goals including the winner and Robert Freckelton collected 3 assists enroute to a 4-2 victory and a 13 game unbeaten streak. Toby Cooper got the Bruins rolling in the first on a nice short handed breakout beating the Mojacks Cory Kuypers on the stick side and Michael Rennie followed that up banging home a rebound from Cole Bremner’s point shot.

In the second the Mojacks chipped away at the lead eventually tying it up at 2-2 after two periods of play.

The third saw action back and forth with Uxbridge getting two goals from Reilly including a back hander as he fought off his Mojack defender and a hard wrister after Thomas Sheedy flipped the puck out of his zone to Freckelton and he found Reilly for the goal.

Two game saving saves by Ryan McConkey kept the game in reach for his teammates as Ryan faced 30 shots and his counterpart Cory Kuypers had to handle 31 Bruins Shots.

So Uxbridge holds a 4 point lead on Lakefield and 5 points on North Kawartha setting up the “Crucial Match” this Friday against the Knights as these teams continue the fight to finish first. In the event of a tie Uxbridge holds the tie breaker as they won the season series against both clubs. If they win their final two games they would finish first as well!

Bruins get it done in Clarington

A nice three way passing play from Justin Bennett to Stefan Palatsidis to Jackson Savery, who then fired it into the open side for a 1-0 first period lead started the scoring in Clarington tonight.

In the second Esa Patton fed Simon Feig who just got out of the penalty box and he fed a perfect pass to Toby Cooper, who buried it for a 2-0 cushion. The Eagles got on the game sheet just after a 5 on 3 power play ended but the Bruins got that one back on a Palatsidis fast breakout, passing back to Savery for a 3-1 lead. The Eagles made it 3-2 Bruins to end the second period.

It stayed that way till Palatsidis scored from the side of the net as he was falling to the ice giving his teammates a much needed insurance goal. Robert Freckelton picked up Mathew Hunter point shot off the back boards and popped it into the empty net for the 5-2 final.

Ryan McConkey picked up his 20th win of the season making several big saves from the 35 shots he faced.
