Bruins Announce Player Awards!

(File Photo 2019 Banquet)

With the community on hold which also includes the Uxbridge Bruins amid the coronavirus outbreak, we would like to take this moment to announce our team awards for the 2019/2020 season. The Bruins executive hope to have their annual banquet later in the year when it is safe to do so. The safety of everyone is first and foremost.

Starting off with the Ivan Cox Memorial Defenceman of the year award, in his overage year our Captain Adam Turner. Adam contributed 6 goals and 16 assist in his final year as a Bruin. Congrats Adam.

This years Rookie of the Year award goes to local resident Andrew Swan who played all 42 games with 2 goals and 7 assists. Well done Andrew.

The Media award which was created by Darryl Knight and Roger Varley goes to another OA, Cameron Moffitt who chipped in with 11 goals and 12 assists. Well done Moff!

The Coaches and the Roy Cordingley Memorial Most Sportsmanlike award recipient are both going to Toby Cooper. Toby finished third in team scoring at 51 points (11 goals and 40 assists). A great year Coop!

Every year a player ends the season with improved performances and as a 16 year old playing junior in goal Cameron Smith was thrown into the fire as the teams number one goalie. Congrats Smitty on the Most Improved award and good luck as you continue the journey with the London Knights organization.

A teams Most Valuable player not only has talent but heart and soul, this was the character Justin Bennett exemplified in his time with the Bruins finishing first in team scoring with 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points. Congratulations on receiving the Jack Murphy Memorial Most Valuable Player Award. A great finish to your overage year Benny! (The name of the trophy was originally omitted in error and thanks to Brad Barton for bringing this to our attention)

Congrats to all of you and a Special Thanks to our Fans this past season, you were Awesome!

Bruins Lose a Heart Breaker in Game 6 to Clarington!

Photo: Bruins Thank their fans!

It was not meant to be as a hard working Bruins Team just came up short losing 3-2 in overtime to the Clarington Eagles. Brandan Reid got the home team off to a 1-0 lead 4 mins into the game but the Eagles tied it up for a 1-1 tie heading into intermission.

Daniel Giorgio with a goal made it 2-1 in the third but again the Eagles would tie it sending this exciting game into overtime.

The Eagles ended the Bruins season at 4:18 into overtime much to the disappointment of the local fans. Thx to our Fans for your support and good luck to Clarington and North Kawartha in the Orr division finals.

C Ya Next Season!
