Uxbridge blew two goal leads twice but scored with 1:40 left for a 5-4 win on a perfect cross ice pass from Daryl Thomson to Shane Smith who buried it over the shoulder of the Merchants goalie. After out shooting Little Britain 15-6 in the first in one of their best periods of the season and taking a 2-0 lead on Nicholas Sribny’s and Marco Mastrangelo’s goals, they came out flat to start the second. The Merchants tied it up and then the Bruins regained their two goal lead when Thomson and then a goal credited to Mastrangelo but appears to be scored by Thomson made it 4-2 Bruins. Little Britain fought back in the third to tie it once again and it was the heroics of Thomson and Smith that allowed Uxbridge to escape with a 5-4 win. Branden Francey picked up his 7th win of the season in goal for the Bruins. A special thanks to UMHA’s Hawks / Kings for the great display of hockey during the first intermission.

The Bruins players and staff were Marco Mastrangelo, Jake Jooston, Aiden Reilly, Adam Bartholomew, Nicholas Sribny, Alex Siblock, Quintino Zarlenga, Thomas Swift, Kyle Spataro, Nick Keeler, and Geoff Hodgkinson.

After a scoreless first period and some big saves from goaltender Branden Francey, it was Wes Cowie that got the offence going with a shot from the goal-line that hit the pad of the Chiefs tender going into the net for a 1-0 lead. Lakefield would tie it before the period ended and they would add two more for a 3-1 lead in the third. Patrick Bolahood deflected an Aiden Reily’s point shot to get Uxbridge within one but despite a power play in the last 1 minute and 30 seconds and Francey on the bench, they could not get the equalizer falling 3-2 to the Chiefs.

Shane Smith took a pass from Coby Gardner and went to his backhand to up the lead to 4-0 after two periods of play. In the third Mastrangelo scored his third of the game on the power play, while Daryl Thomson added one for the Bruins sixth goal. The Knights got their lone goal midway through the period as Jake Jooston faced a low number of shots at 17. Jordan Nesbitt closed out the scoring at 17:50 of the final frame as he walked in from the point and his hard wrist shot eluded the Knights Tender who faced 49 shots on the night.

The Bruins lead 1-0 after the first period on the strength of Daryl Thomson’s slap shot from the top of the circle on a perfect setup pass from Marco Mastrangelo. Nicholas Sribny added a goal 8 minutes into the second period but the Eagles clawed back tying it up at 2 apiece. It was then Brady Baker with an unassisted goal giving Uxbridge back the lead to end the second 3-2. With five and a half minutes left in the third Clarington tied the game and scored the go ahead goal with 3:25 remaining. The Bruins Sribny got his second of the night and to tie it at four apiece when Shane Smith passed him the puck and he slid a backhanded shot into the net. The Eagles scored the game winner with 56 seconds left in overtime in a very entertaining game.
