The Uxbridge Bruins played catch-up all night long until the third period when they laid on the mustard coming back to take the lead for a 7-5 win. Scoring for Uxbridge in the first was Wes Cowie for a 1-1 tie and then in the second after the Merchants took a 3-1 lead it was Marco Mastrangelo getting his team within one goal. Jordan Nesbitt’s hustle from the blue line to bang at a loose puck tied the game with just .01 of a second left on the clock. The two teams traded goals through till the 12:00 min mark in the third, scoring for Uxbridge was Alex Siblock and a rocket slapshot from Daryl Thomson. Then it was Shane Smith’s turn to play hero as he redirected Captain Mastrangelo’s pass in the slot giving his team-mates the lead for the first time in the game. He would add another with an empty net goal as the Bruins left the “Bear Den” with a 7-5 win and second place in the standings. The Bruins Branden Francey and Garrett Haden of the Merchants made some quality saves for their respective teams.
