Bruins players mob Brandon Francey after he makes the final save in the shootout! It has been 10 days since the Uxbridge Bruins played their last game before the Christmas break, but they came out flying in the first scoring three goals for a commanding 3-0 lead. However they used up all their energy in that period and allowed the Merchants back into the game on two goals in 20 seconds to make a game out of it. Little Britain would tie it before the end of the second and despite many opportunities the goalies Brandon Francey (49 shots) of the Bruins and Garret Haden (53 shots) of the Merchants put on a goaltending display forcing a shootout. Daryl Thomson and Shane Smith got goals in the 3rd and 6th rounds but the Merchant shooters got two of their own in the 2nd and again in the 6th. That takes us to the 9th round where Robert Freckleton went from his right side deking Haden, to his left and as he fired a shot along the ice the goalie lifted his pads enough for the puck to slide under for a big 4-3 win! Freckleton got the Bruins on board with the first goal and Daryle Thomson with a rocket off of the post for goal number two. Todd Winder made it 3-0 on a rebound off of a Thomson shot before the Merchants stormed back. Just 3 points separate the top 4 teams, with Uxbridge in 3rd two back of 1st place Lakefield. The Bruins host the Lakefield Chiefs on Fri. Jan.2nd at 7:45pm.

Korey Brand, Todd Winder and Shane Smith pose with Santa before last nights game. The Bruins are always happy to have members of Community Living North Durham as guests on their special night at a Bruins game. Representatives Katherine Follows and Tracy McGarry join Santa as they drop the puck between the Bruins Carter Vahey and Logan Evans of the Mojacks. It was a solid effort from the net out, as Brandon Francey backstopped the Bruins to a 4-1 win over the Mojacks tonight. Marco Mastrangelo’s shot created a scramble in front and Tyson Eastgate banged it home for a 1-0 lead. Then it was Thomas Sheedy scoring his first goal in Junior C hockey, as his point shot went in off the post after a nice pass from Mastrangelo. There was no scoring in the second but the Bruins came out flying as they did in the first and it resulted in Daryl Thomson one timing a shot off the boards at the 1:45 mark for a 3-0 lead. Todd Winder plays the perfect deflection on a point shot by Conner Evans as it blew by the Mojacks goalie. A goal midway by Port Perry in the third spoiled a shutout bid by Francey as the puck took a crazy bounce going in over his shoulder. On behalf of the Players, Staff and Executive have a safe and Merry Christmas and see you on Tues. Dec.30th as the Bruins host the Little Britain Merchants at 7:45pm

Smith went five hole on the Ice goalie for a 1-0 lead unassisted. Uxbridge exploded for four goals in the second by Daryl Thomson Todd Winder with 2 and Jarret Smith. Owen Scuralli (APM), Winder getting the Hatrick and Alex Siblock added third period goals for an 8-0 final, peppering the Ice goalies with 54 shots. Jake Jooston made 27 saves for his first Juinior C shutout! The Bruins would like to Thank Terri Jooston for volunteering with the Teddy Bear Toss at the front gate. Next Fri. (Photo: John Yates) It was Smith and Smith night at the Uxbridge arena as both Shane and Jarett Smith did all the scoring including the latter for the winning goal in overtime tonight. First it was a 1-0 lead as Shane Smith walked out in front and fired a hard wrister of off the crossbar into the net. Todd Winder picked up an assist. The Eagles could only get 1 shot past Uxbridge goalie Brandon Francey who faced 51 shots on the night and that takes us to OT where Jarett Smith redirected a Connor Evans point blast with 31 seconds remaining as the Bruins move to within 1 point of the first place Port Perry Mojacks. Todd Winder again assisted on the play. Next Fri. Dec.12th is Teddy bear Toss night when the Bruins score their first goal of the game!
