bruins-mojacksPhoto courtesy The Standard (Darryl Knight) If you were at the game in Port Perry this afternoon, you got your money’s worth as the Bruins and the Mojacks battled in a classic rivalry game that had to be settled in a shootout. Uxbridge’s Dylan Locke got the Bruins on the board first with a beauty on a wrap-around shot that was set in motion by Daryl Thomson. But the Mojacks would tie it up before the period was over on a power play and then take a 2-1 lead in the second. Conner Evans fed Korey Brand who was in mid flight and he made a perfect pass to Jarett Smith who deflected the shot pass the Port goalie for a 2-2 tie. The Mojacks regained the lead before Carter Vahey fired a wrister through a crowd from the point just seconds into a power play and we are tied at 3-3 going into the third. Smith and Marco Mastrangelo were the setup men right off the face-off. It was a scoreless third period as both goalies came up with big saves especially the Bruins Brandon Francey on a breakaway in the dying mins of the game. The Mojacks thought they had won it in OT but the officials gathered and ruled no goal as the player had knocked the puck into the net with a high stick.

In the shootout Dylan Locke scored on the first shot and Marco Mastrangelo on the Bruins third for a big 4-3 win in Mojack land. The Standings will have Uxbridge and (the winner of Lakefield at Clarington later today) tied for first with the losing team possibly tied with The Mojacks at one back. Little Britain will be 2 back in a very tight Central Division.
