Bruins Lose in OT to the Merchants!

Tjin SaveThings started out well for the Bruins as they opened up a 2-0 lead early in the first on the strength of goals from Carter Vahey’s point blasts, both power play goals. But the Merchants answered with 2 power play goals of their own to end the first tied. In the second Little Britain took a 3-2 lead before Jarett Smith (PP) scored the first of his 2 goals on the night. Special teams again led to a Merchants goal for the 4-3 lead, but Smith added the tying goal on the power play to tie it at four apiece. In overtime Max Tjin was forced to make 3 breakaway saves but the Merchants Kurtis Moore scored on a partial breakaway as they defeated the Bruins 5-4. Uxbridge needs any combination of 2 points (a win or Port Perry regulation loss) to secure 3rd place in the standings.

Tim Bierema’s Hat Trick Propels Bruins past Mojacks 7-4!

Bruins LogoTim Bierema opened the scoring for the Bruins in Port Perry tonight before the Mojacks tied it up at one apiece. Liam Blais got the lead back to close out the first period with a 2-1 lead. Uxbridge would score 4 straight in the second to open up a sizeable 6-1 lead on Bierema’s second and third goals of the game. Adding to that was Tyson Eastgate and Conner Beck before the Mojacks closed out the second with one of their own. Port Perry got close at 6-4 in the third but with the goalie pulled Uxbridge’s Adam Bartholomew found the empty net as Uxbridge Beat Port Perry 7-4. Honourable mention to Conner Beck on a 5 point night. Uxbridge open’s up an 8 point lead over the 4th place Mojacks in the Central League.

Bruins Win 4-2 in Georgina!

logo100Liam Blais, Matt Allen and Conner Miller opened up a 3-0 lead in the first over the Ice tonight. However the Georgina team fought back with 2 in the second just 37 seconds apart, but Allen with his second of the night secured the 4-2 win and Max Tjin shut the door in the Bruins net the rest of the game.

Bruins tripped up on the Ice!

Northsave2After a scoreless first it was the Ice getting on the board for the only goal in the second as they took a 1-0 lead into the third period. Georgina’s Tyler Richardson’s stopped every Bruins shot until Korey Brand tipped Matt Trudel’s point shot on a nice setup from Jason Simmons. But just over a minute later the Ice regained the lead and with Cody Northover pulled for an extra attacker it was Tim Bierema’s tip (PP) on Conner Beck’s point blast that sent the game to OT and then a Shoot out. The Ice scored on thier first 2 shots and the Bruins Matt Allen and Bierema could not solve Richardson in the Ice net, as Georgina wins 3-2.

logo100Uxbridge opened up a 5-0 lead en route to a 5-1 victory in Keswick tonight on goals from Matt Allen, Tim Bierema (SH), Korey Brand, Conner Beck and Tyson Eastgate. Cody Northover picked up his second straight win on the weekend.

Short Benched Bruins upset 1st Place Chiefs!

Celebration2Bruins pull off a 4-3 win over Lakefield before 275 fans tonight at the Bear Den. First period action ended scoreless but in Captain Matt Allen’s return to the lineup after a 7 game absence he fired a rocket wrist shot to beat the Chiefs Zach Wainman for a 1-0 lead in the second period. Tyson Eastgate’s hustle at his own blue line created a cross ice pass to Allen who was flying down the right side. Conner Miller is showing his experience gained from the Jr A level by setting up Carter Vahey who got a shot on net that was redirected by Tim Bierema(PP). Another power play goal by Korey Brand upped the lead to 3-0 as Bierema slipped the puck to him from behind the net and he one timed the pass for the goal. Lakefield started the third with a flourish scoring at 1:51 however the Bruins went on the attack scoring a very important 4th goal that would eventually be the game winner. Brands second on the power play on a goal mouth pass from Miller again gave Uxbridge the 4-1 lead. Conner Beck also assisted on the play. The Chiefs however kept attacking and got within one goal, losing for only the 4th time this year, two of which were at the hands of the Bruins! Uxbridge Bruins’ goalie Cody Northover made several key saves contributing the victory.

Bruins Make Roster Moves!

Matt TrudellThe Uxbridge Bruins added right handed defenceman Matt Trudel to the lineup on Jan.10/14, Matt is a native of Bowmanville On where he was playing Jr.C. with the Port Hope Panthers of the Empire league. Matt had 3 goals and 6 assists this year with 5 points coming on the powerplay.

Welcome aboard Matt!

The Bruins also released forward Paul Henderson back to his midget team, Paul had 1 goal and 3 assists this season. The Bruins organisation wish him all the best with his minor hockey team.

Bruins shoot down Eagles in their own Nest!

logo100After a scoreless 1st period the Bruins Marco Mastrangelo gave his team a 1-0 lead after two periods of play. Clarington would tie it in the third on a short handed play but Carter Vahey scored the game winner and goaltender Cody Northover picked up the win in goal as Uxbridge downed the Eagles 2-1. Assists on the night went to Korey Brand, Connor Miller and Dylan Locke. Uxbridge maintains their 3 point lead in 3rd place over the Port Perry Mojacks who also won over Georgina tonight 7-4.

Mojacks defeat the Bruins to move within 3 points of Third Place!

The Bruins did not fare well on the scoreboard as a 1-0 first period lead evaporated in the second as the Mojacks opened up with 5 goals of their own after 2 periods of play. the final of 6-2 leaves them just 3 points behind the Bruins for 3rd place in the Central. Justin Dube and Marco Mastrangelo were the Uxbridge goal scorers.

Lakefield Doubles up on the Bruins!

logo100Marco Mastragelo got the Bruins of to a 2-0 lead in Lakefield tonight but the Chiefs came right back with 5 goals to take a 5-2 lead. Connor Miller scored his first as a Bruins as well as picking up an assist in a 6-3 loss to Lakefield. The 6th goal was an empty netter. Also assisting on the night were Justin Dube , Carter Vahey, and Tim Bierema (2)
